Welcome to the Summit Fighting League (SFL)
I’m J. Joseph, the creator of the Summit Fighting League (SFL), and it’s my pleasure to welcome you to this project. The SFL is something I’ve been building over the past several months, and it stands apart as a hybrid e-fed—a unique blend of storytelling, competition, and immersive world-building.
I encourage you to explore the website at your own pace, as there’s a lot to discover. However, if you’d prefer an overview, read on, and I’ll break it all down for you.
How the SFL Began
The original concept for the SFL started as a text-only project, focusing purely on written storytelling. However, that quickly changed—as you can tell from the amount of graphic work integrated into the website. The visual design is just as much a part of the experience as the stories themselves, enhancing the atmosphere and world-building of the SFL.
Another important note: I am no longer a fan of modern-day wrestling. Many of my storylines, characters, and the overall theme of the SFL are deeply inspired by wrestling and culture from the early to late ‘90s and early 2000s. If you're nostalgic for that era of wrestling, you’ll likely feel at home here.
What is an e-Fed?
If you’re new to the concept, e-feds (electronic federations) are online, fan-driven wrestling leagues where participants create characters and compete through written roleplays or simulated matches.
E-feds rose to prominence in the early 2000s, thriving in online forums and email-based groups. These communities allowed wrestling fans to craft storylines, cut promos, and engage in competitive storytelling, often mimicking the drama and spectacle of real-world wrestling promotions.
Though their mainstream popularity has faded, e-feds remain a passion project for creative storytellers, evolving in different formats over the years. The SFL takes a different approach, blending elements of e-feds with structured, long-form storytelling rather than relying on traditional roleplays or weekly shows.
A Different Kind of e-Fed
The SFL is not your traditional e-fed. There are no roleplays, no weekly show postings, and no ties to real-world promotions like WWE, AEW, or UFC. Instead, the SFL exists in its own self-contained universe, where entire story arcs are released as books, with each arc divided into individual chapters.
One key difference between the SFL and other fictional leagues is that there is no set year in which it takes place. Instead of aligning events with 2024, 2025, and so on, the timeline starts at Year 0 (Now) and progresses forward as the story unfolds. This allows for a more fluid, timeless narrative that isn’t tied to real-world dates.
Not every storyline is confined to a single arc—some will unfold across multiple books, allowing for deeper, more intricate narratives.
Navigating the Website
The SFL website may feel intimidating at first since it differs greatly from traditional e-feds. Here are some key things to keep in mind as you explore:
Best Viewed on Desktop – The website is optimized for desktop viewing. While I’ve done my best to ensure mobile compatibility, the heavy use of graphics may cause certain elements to appear differently than intended on smaller screens.
Some Sections Are Still in Progress – There are still certain areas of the site that need additional details, and character artwork is still being completed. These updates will roll out over time, so check back for changes.
Character Listings – Any character who has appeared in a book—whether a staff member, manager, or fighter—will remain in their respective section. This means you may see characters who were active in earlier books but are no longer part of the current storyline. Not everyone will be at the same place in the story, and this setup allows readers to follow a character’s full arc. If a character is no longer active, their profile will reflect that in some form.
Championships & Records – Titles and historical records will always reflect the most recent story arc. If you’re looking for up-to-date champions, this is where you’ll find them.
News Stories – Information that would typically appear in an e-fed’s news section is integrated into the Table of Contents within each book. This ensures that key story developments and updates are woven directly into the storytelling experience.
How to Follow Events & Matches
All matches and events take place within the books. If you’re looking for quick results:
Visit the Event Center section of the website, where you’ll find the match card and results.
If you want to experience the full event, you’ll find it in the Arena Archives—a section within the book where the event took place.
Each book and chapter includes a summary, so if you prefer to jump around rather than read in sequence, you’re free to do so.
Release Schedule
There is no fixed timeline for book releases. The time required to write, edit, create artwork, and update the website varies. At times, multiple books may be released in quick succession; at others, there may be longer gaps between posts.
When a book is completed, I will announce it along with a release date.
Applications & Future Participation
If you’ve read this far, you’re probably wondering about applications. At this time, applications are not open. Given the structured nature of the storytelling, coordinating multiple writers within a long-term arc presents significant logistical challenges.
That said, if interest grows and a viable approach emerges, applications may open in the future. However, there is currently no timeline for when or if that will happen.
Final Thoughts
I hope you enjoy the SFL universe and find yourself immersed in its stories. Every aspect, including the artwork, characters, and world-building, has been created by me. All materials may not be used without prior permission.
Thank you for being part of this journey—I look forward to sharing the world of Summit Fighting League with you.
